With the advent of the No Child Left Behind legislation (NCLB), our goal is to help our client states retool their assessment programs to meet the requirements of NCLB. Our number one priority is to meet the changing needs of our state department of education partners with flexibility. To that end, we have developed an internal consulting group to monitor the laws and regulations surrounding NCLB. The NCLB Council will provide technical consulting, data warehousing and reporting, and services to support special projects and studies.

Patricia Porter, Vice President of Large-Scale Assessment, heads DRC’s NCLB Council and serves as DRC’s expert on issues related to the successful implementation of the NCLB legislation. In that capacity she works hand-in-hand with all of DRC’s client states to advise them on specifics related to the development of assessments and content standards as well as the creation of measures of adequate yearly progress. Ms. Porter’s more than 25 years of experience in the management of large-scale assessments for both students and educators for the State of Texas have provided her with a depth of understanding of the challenges faced by states as they implement new legally and psychometrically sound assessment and accountability systems.
