Electronic scoring of response documents using Optical Mark Read (OMR) technology is a time-honored practice. There is no faster, more accurate, or more efficient way to capture the results for large-scale testing programs. We have used scanning technology since our inception in the mid-1970s.
 

To enhance our performance assessment capabilities, DRC has added image scanning technology to our scoring package. Image scanning allows us to capture a picture of a student’s constructed responses (open-ended, extended response, or written composition essays) and electronically send the image to our online scoring facilities. Image scanning also captures multiple-choice and demographic responses using processes similar to OMR technology.
